Log Burning Fires

Looking to start some log burning fires?  If you’re interested in log burning fires, you’re going to have to forgo electric fireplaces in exchange for the more old fashioned type of fireplace.  Log burning fires can be maintained in modern day wood stoves, these are quite popular within the UK and there are many places to get them over there.  If you’re searching for them over in the US or another country though, it might be harder to come by.

Sure you can start log burning fires in your fireplace just bare, but that’s probably not the best idea as it will not be too controlled.  You could also start a fire outside in what is called a “fire pit” however that is only if you’re looking to cook some meat over a camp fire.

I’m guessing you just want to set up a fire indoors to heat up the room in an old fashioned way and generate not only the heat but some nice ambience as well.  If this is the case, here are a few fireplaces to consider:

1.  Westfire 21 Stove

Here’s a relatively cheap option at only 96.50 pounds.  This is 800mm H x 440mm W x 430mm D and weighs in at 81kgs.  This has a max heat output of 7 kW and an 80% efficiency.

This has a rounded shape to it with a large curved window.  This stove is longer than most other stoves, vertically that is, and so it can fit where many others can’t.  Due to this stove’s efficiency, this is a great choice for a smaller room.

2.  Saey Scope Woodburning Stove

Here’s another option to consider.  It is impressive and yet restrained.  This is of excellent quality, it has a side loading door which makes loading in logs a lot easier.  This is 700mm H x 700mm W x 475mm D and weighs in at 210kgs.  It has a max heat output of 11kW and is made of grey cast iron.
The max log size you can put into this is 450mm, the whole stove will cost you around 1,722 pounds though so it can be quite pricey, you get what you pay for though.

Now there are many other stoves you can get out there to produce log burning fires, however this should give you an idea of the large difference in price you can see.  These are both in British pounds however if you look hard enough, you might be able to find one within the US at a Walmart or other home appliance store.
